Motor vehicle collisions are a leading cause of injury-related death and disability throughout the Capital Region. Each year, there are more than 25,000 collisions in the region; approximately one-third result in injury or death. In 2002, more than 60 per cent of all injury collisions occurred in intersections. To address this critical problem, stakeholders in Alberta’s Capital Region combined efforts to reduce the frequency and severity of intersection collisions.
The Capital Region Intersection Safety Partnership (CRISP) is composed of the following traffic safety and injury prevention stakeholders:

Working together since 2001, CRISP promotes the integration of education, engineering and enforcement solutions toward reducing the frequency and severity of intersection collisions. Visit the CRISP web site www.drivetolive.ca for more details.
A major new initiative of CRISP is the implementation of the INTERSECT Symposium designed to provide a forum for professionals to share ideas, create new networks and learn from the success of others.
